Bleeding Glacier Spews Million-Year-Old Microbes

This five-story, blood-red waterfall was first discovered in 1911. The glacier covers a small body of water where microbes have evolved independently of the outside world. This primordial cocktail has made the lake rich in iron, which gives the waterfall this amazing red color.
