EPA is holding the first of two public hearings on Monday, 18 May regarding the agency’s proposed findings that greenhouse gases contribute to air pollution that may endanger public health or welfare. (Earlier post.) The proposed findings identify six greenhouse gases that pose a potential threat.
The hearing at the EPA Potomac Yard South Conference Center in Arlington, Virginia, is scheduled from 9am to 8pm. Comments are limited to 4 minutes, and EPA says that with all the slots from 9am to 8pm full, they are already oversubscribed. There will be “After Hours” times available later in the evening.
Speaking slots for the subsequent public hearing, to be held in Seattle, Washington on 21 May, are also oversubscribed.
Written comments will be accepted until 23 June 2009. EPA will consider written comments submitted during the comment period with the same weight as oral comments presented during the public hearing.
